KidsCamp 2007
Registration is now open!
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County offers KidsCamp to elementary aged children entering kindergarten through entering sixth grade. Our day camp features four days per week at a private lake in Portage that is used exclusively by our campers. The fifth day of the week is reserved for kid-pleasing field trips like Zao Island, Inman's Recreation Center, and Fun Inflatable. Acticities at camp include swimming, boating, fishing, crafts, field games and much more!
Kidscamp is available at three locations - Valparaiso, South haven, and Portage clubs. We offer flexible scheduling for parents. Your child may attend a half day, all day or week, or the entire summer. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Please note that this program, unlike general attendance at our three Club facilities, does not operate with an Open Door Policy. All participants in KidsCamp (as well as Kidstop) must be signed into and out of the program. (Please see our Club Membership page for more information on our Open Door Policy.)
Our Program & Facilities
KidsCamp starts every morning with various activities held within the Valpo, Portage and South Haven Boys & Girls Clubs. We travel to "CAMP" at Clifford Lake at 11:45 a.m. Mon., Tues., Thurs, & Fris. and participate in camp activities until 4:30p.m. at which time children and staff travel back to their respective club sites arriving by 5:00p.m. On Field Trip Days we will return to the club sites no later than 5:15 p.m. Campers have access and full use of the entire club facilities each morning and our activities are based around these facilities, including our computer labs at each club. The Clifford Lake facility is a beautiful, privately owned 10+ acre lake and surrounding area that is transformed into KidsCamp. Campers participate in canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, fishing, archery and swimming. The swimming area is sectioned off with colorful buoys making no mistake where out of bounds is. Additionally, two sandy beaches create an appealing area for creative water and sand play. A crafts area is used each day as we create "great works of art" as it relates to our environment and themes.
