    The need for a Boys Club in Valparaiso was determined.

    Valparaiso Community

    The Valparaiso Community Boys Club was incorporated August 19, 1970.
  • October 18, 1971

    Club’s first home

    The Club’s first home, in the basement of the Westminister Hall, was opened on October 18, 1971, with 300 members in the first year.
  • December 1972

    John Will Anderson Foundation

    The John Will Anderson Foundation purchased the old Gardner School at 354 W. Jefferson Street in December 1972, and converted it to the Boys Club.
  • 1974

    Boys & Girls Clubs

    Valparaiso is the first Club in Indiana to admit girls to common membership, and the second Club to change the name to Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • 1979

    South Haven

    Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County expanded into South Haven
  • 1990


    The Kidstop program was established and opened its first three before- and after-school child care sites.

    Portage Unit

    The Portage Unit (later re-named after Forrest L. “Dusty” Rhode) opened its doors on December 26th

    Duneland Unit

    The Duneland Unit opened its doors on October 2nd

    Porter County

    The Boys & Girls Clubs of Porter County have grown to include over 4,900 members, four Club locations, and nine Kidstop sites serving three school corporations in Porter County.
